The Iranian president made the remakes while meeting his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York on Monday.
President Rouhani also pointed out to China’s vital role in the implementation of the nuclear deal. He underlined on expanding bilateral ties and added “I hope that the agreements of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for establishing seven work groups will be completed soon.”
The Iranian president also talked about the post-sanction era and the participation of European countries in Iranian projects and added “We would like Chinese companies to cooperate in the projects as well. Iran-China can have great ties in different fields.”
Rouhani also noted that regional countries including Iran and China should cooperate in fight against terrorism and extremism in the Middle East and East Asia adding “extremist ideas and violence are a great threat for both regions which should be solved with mutual cooperation.”
The Iranian president also said “Yemen is suffering from a humanitarian disaster and China can help the crisis in a humane way.”
Xi Jinping, for his part, said that during the past few years, Iran and China have had many commonalities regarding bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues; the two countries can promote the process and create more welfare for their nations.”
Beijing is ready to expand ties with the international community including Iran, based on mutual interests, he noted.
The Chinese president also said that he will visit Iran at the beginning of 2016 in order to develop bilateral ties.
China wants increased cooperation in the fields of railways, roads, iron and steel industries, auto manufacturing, electricity and high-technology, he said.
