Foreign guests to attend Shahriar Intl. Congress

TABRIZ, Sep. 16 (MNA) – A number of foreign guests will attend the Shahriar International Congress to be held in Tabriz, Iran.

Hassan Milani, the head of East Azerbaijan's Art Bureau said that the one-day congress will open on Wednesday. The event will host national figures as well as 30 foreign guests from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Talking about the programs of the congress, he added: “Following the opening ceremony, the participants are planned to visit the Mausoleum of Poets in Tabriz and adorn the tombs with flowers. Several sessions are scheduled to be held as well and the closing ceremony will be held in Aras Free Zone."

Special programs have also been planned for the Iranian and foreign guests which include a city tour in Tabriz as well as visiting the region’s cultural and natural attractions.

A total of 90 articles were submitted to the congress of which 40 were shortlisted and 24 were finally picked up and will be published as a collection.

Shahriar published his first book of poems in 1929. His poems are mainly influenced by Hafez. The poet’s most famous works are Heidar Babaya Salam, a poem dedicated to his birthplace, the village of Heidar Baba, and The Blessed Bird of Good Omen, which is about Imam Ali (AS).
