Addressing a meeting of Austrian President Heinz Fischer and his accompanying delegation of high-ranking authorities of the European country, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to US hostility towards the Islamic Republic ‘due to loss of its own interests in Iran’ and deemed some European countries’ following of US aggressive policies in regard to Iran as ‘irrational and unjustified;’ “Austria, however, is not among such countries and it is necessary for the authorities of the two countries to work for and plan boosting of bilateral ties.
Iran’s Leader described the main objective of the Islamic Revolution as providing prosperity for its people and all the humanity within the path of “following God, command of reason and practicing faith” and added that, “although this benevolent approach faces enmities in global level by warmongers who sow discord among nations; but Iran enjoys good, intimate friends among many states and nations.”
Regarding irrational hostility of some European countries towards Iran since the victory of the Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei asserted that “the Islamic Revolution repossessed an Iran which was under complete control of Americans, and this is the reason of US enmity against the Islamic Republic. It is illogical some European states follow the Americans in this hostility against Iran.”
In response to a question from Mr. Fischer about the future of Iran’s relations with European countries, Leader of the Revolution stressed necessity of planning for improvement of bilateral ties between Tehran and Vienna; “some European countries have raised the issue and made comment, but we need to wait and see the words practiced in action,” said he.
The Leader further touched upon the issue of deviant movements and corruptions made by their agents in the region which are being done in the name of Islam and highlighted that “Islam is not what these groups are introducing; Islam is based on a firm, religious and rational logic.”
During the meeting where Iran’s President Rouhani and a number of his cabinet members were also present, Austrian President Heinz Fischer for his part hailed hospitality of Iranians and dubbed his meetings with Iranian officials as fruitful where “we must discuss and work on issues to reach more agreement.”
Expressing pleasure over Ayatollah Khamenei’s positive remarks about his fellow country, President Fischer voiced optimism on future of bilateral ties and called it a new chapter in mutual cooperation between the two countries.
