40 countries to partake in Iran 100-second filmfest.

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Director of international committee of the 10th 100-Second Films Festival said 40 countries so far have requested to participate in this film event.

Behnam Bahadori, the Director of international committee of the 10th edition of Iran’s 100-Second Films Festival, said the festival has called for submissions from various countries with important and impressive films and festivals of their own.

“We have also negotiated with some other festivals that are devoted to the screening of 60 and 100 second films and we have agreed to have such festivals screen the top selected films from the first edition to the ninth edition of our festival,” said Bahadori, adding that the 60 second film festivals of Pakistan and Denmark have so far promised to participate in the event.

“Negotiations with Belarus film festival and Claremont film festival of France which are among the most important short film festivals are currently underway,” he added.

Bahadori further maintained that so far 40 European and Asian countries have expressed their request for participating in the 10th 100 Second Films Festival, including France, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Tanzania and India.

The first 100 Second Film Festival was held in 2002. Since the 6th edition, it has been hosted at an international level. Each year, 500 short films are selected to be shown in the festival from among 2000 films that are sent to the secretariat. Filmmakers from over 60 countries have participated in this festival so far. The international festival has retained a significant influence in fostering brevity of films in Iran and other countries.

The 10th International 100 Second Films Festival will be held from March 2-4, 2016 in Tehran. The deadline for film submission is January 26, 2016. For more information visit the festival’s official website here.
