Ali Larijani told Mehr News correspondent on the sidelines of Parliament’s open session today that his view on the progress of nuclear negotiations is generally positive; “I believe that the efforts made by the negotiating team defines a clear and completely well-thought path within the outlined framework.”
“I do hope that the other side too exhibits the same rationality and makes good use of the time. They should avoid bringing in new ideas to the negotiating table at the last moment or assume that it is a good idea to exert maximum pressure [on Iran]. The pressure could only cause further problems,” Larijani said on Sunday.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have been holding a marathon of talks over the past 15 days in Vienna to iron out the remaining differences and nail down a landmark historical deal on Tehran’s nuclear program.
With a new deadline looming on Monday, the negotiating teams of Iran and the six states held separate meetings on Saturday. The meetings are currently underway in the Austrian capital.
Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif stresses that Iran is not bound by any deadline and will continue with the negotiations until a “good agreement” is reached.
