Parliaments influential in deepening Iran-Mexico ties

TEHRAN, Jun. 16 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed the role of parliaments in strengthening all-out ties between Iran and Mexico.

Ali Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with a delegation of Mexican senators in Tehran on Monday.

Iranian official described Iran-Mexico relations as "positive and flourishing", expressing hope the ties between the two countries would be further enhanced through parliamentary cooperation.

Chairwoman of the Mexican Senate's Foreign Relations Committee Gabriela Cuevas Barrón, who headed the delegation, hailed Iran as an important country which owns an ancient civilization.

She further voiced her country's willingness to deepen relations with the Islamic Republic in various political, economic, scientific and cultural fields.

Mexican senators arrived in Tehran on Sunday, June 14, for talks with Iranian lawmakers and officials on the bilateral ties.

Promotion of ties with Latin American states has been among the top priorities of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy over the past few years.
