Ayat. Ahmad Khatami:

Nobody approving of a bad deal

Nobody approving of a bad deal

TEHRAN, Jun. 13 (MNA) – In a sermon to worshipers at the weekly Tehran Friday Prayers, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami touched upon major regional issues.

The interim Friday Prayers leader Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami held this week’s ceremony on Friday June 12, preaching two sermons as usually one dealing with socio-political issues and the other touching upon religious principles.

In the second sermon, the senior cleric condoled the recent death of two clerics representing the Leader of Iran in cities of Astane and Najaf, listing their accomplishments and contributions to the society.

Next he commented on two significant speeches of the Leader of Iran, the first delivered in Mashhad and the second in Tehran, in which Ayatollah Khamenei elaborated on Imam Khomeini’s foreign diplomacy dealing with the US, and warned that swaying the path defined by Imam will have harsh consequences.

The top cleric highlighted one of Imam’s key ideas in which he made a distinction between the Islam desired by Prophet Muhammad and the Islam that is wished by the US authorities, dubbing the first as “Pure Muhammadi Islam” and the second as “American Islam.”

Reviewing the features of Imam Khomeini’s lifestyle and principles of his ideology, Ayatollah Khatami maintained that Imam Khomeini was known for his anti-imperialistic approach and pro-oppressed treatment.

Khatami rejected the idea that Imam had left the letter of pro-Americans unanswered, saying that Imam dismissed the proposal adhering to his aforementioned approach toward the US.

The cleric also invited the media to elaborate on what Ayatollah Khamenei reminded about Imam’s idea of the leadership of the Islamic nation in the commemoration held to mark the 26th anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s demise.

Later supporting the negotiating team of Islamic Republic of Iran in the underway Iran-5+1 talks over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program, the cleric called the talks sensitive and expressed understanding for the concerns which rightfully can be expressed but confronted harsh criticisms questioning the sincerity of Iranian negotiators as he called the negotiating team 'warriors on the diplomacy front' who need the nation’s help to accomplish their goals.

Meanwhile, Ayatollah Khatami asked the authorities, in return, to avoid considering any criticism or gathering aimed at discussing the negotiations as destructive.

He called the oppositions’ gatherings contributive as they are aimed at giving the negotiators the upperhand in bargaining the final deal.

The senior Iranian cleric further said that the Islamic Republic seeks a good deal, which he said is one that would abide by the Islamic Republic’s red lines.

Going further he advised the negotiators to consider 6 parameters of a good deal earlier outlined by the Leader.

The first parameter, the Grand Ayatollah listed was the removal of the sanctions in contrast with the suspension of them.

Rejecting any pressure or threat was the second parameter briefed by him followed by safeguarding the nuclear accomplishments as the third.

The fourth listed by Khatami was the dismissal of any military inspection or interviewing the nuclear scientists of Iran.

The last two parameters Ayatollah Khatami highlighted were the verification of the other side’s honesty as they are seeking to test Iran’s, and the limitation of the talks to the issue of Iran’s nuclear program.

Paying homage to the 86% of the Turkish casting vote in the recent elections of the neighboring country, he called the defeat of the incumbent party the slap of the nation for supporting the ISIL in shedding the blood of the innocents.

Touching upon the Yemeni crisis, he cherished the support of 95% of the Yemenis for Ansarullah, and called the Saudi the ruthless murderer of women and children.
