Iran’s def. min. meets Syrian counterpart

TEHRAN, Apr. 30 (MNA) – At a press conference with the visiting Syrian Defense Minister, Dehghan lashed out the Takfiri-Zionist movements.

At a joint news conference at Saadabad Palace on Wednesday, the Iranian and Syrian defense ministers lashed out at arrogant powers for upbringing and supporting Takfiri-Zionist militias.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan elaborated on the two days of dialogue with his Syrian counterpart; “we discussed issues of bilateral interest and examined the Syrian unrest to reach a joint approach toward regional cases.”

He also said that Iran is determined to counter ‘the Takfiri-Zionist movements’ instigating chaos and instability in the Middle East.

“Iran will stand with full might against the Takfiri-Zionist movements that disturb the security of the region,” Brigadier General Dehghan told reporters.

“Over the past decade, the Israeli regime was to weaken the resistance front and to break up the Middle East anti-Israeli resistance, and they devised Takfiri-Zionist groups,” Dehghan added.

Iranian defense minister condemned the international bodies turning blind eye on the crimes committed by Takfiris and warned them that the Takfiri-Zionist groups are currently the main threat to stability in the Middle East and if not contained, would do the same to the entire world in future.

“The arrogant powers are always opening new fronts in the region and Yemen is one of them,” Dehghan said, referring to an ongoing military aggression by Saudi Arabia against Yemen, which has claimed more than 1,000 lives of civilians in about a month.

Dehghan said Iran as an independent and powerful country is sensitive to the region's peace and stability and not shy to take any necessary measures to maintain peace and security.

“We hope to see the arrogant powers lose in near future,” he said referring to imminent failure of Takfiris.

The Syrian minister, for his part, appreciated Iran’s care for the problem in Syria and the condition of the country’s military, touching upon the fact that for over four years, the Syrian government and armed forces have been fighting terrorists that are supported by foreign countries.

Al-Freij added that Syria, helped by Iran, needs to better assess the available means to counter terrorism as there has been a surge in attacks by terror groups across the Arab country.

He said Syria is determined to win its battle against the terrorists to free the country from the criminals and murderers.
