Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who is visiting Russia, met with Mikhail Bogdanov, the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister and President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa. Amir-Abdollahian told his counterpart that Tehran and Moscow would actively contribute to Syria and Iraq in the fight against terrorism and ISIL.
“Iran’s four-point plan for a political solution to Syria crisis, which shares common elements with Russian approach toward Syrian issues,” Deputy FM said.
He criticized US as not serious enough in fighting ISIL, and reiterated Russia's seriousness and enthusiasm in supporting Iraq and Syria to fight terrorism.
Pointing to strategic ties between Tehran and Moscow, Amir-Abdollahian said that further sessions would help resolve difference of views of Iran and Russia about Syria. He also added that the developments in Yemen, in line with fulfilling the security requirements of the region, are for the interests of all domestic players as well as of regional shareholders.
“Iran’s official position on Bahrain is to support national dialogue and Tehran considers the security of Persian Gulf and the region as the security of its own,” Amir-Abdollahian concluded his remarks.
