Reza Attaran an Iranian actor and director, mostly known for appearing in comedies, for the very first time will attend an international film festival as a jury. He has won the Best Actor award at the 2008 Gol Agha Comedy Film Festival, as well as the Crystal Simorgh for the best actor in the 32nd Fajr International Film Festival in 2014 for his first Feature Fiction I Feel Sleepy.

In addition to this Iranian jury, other juries for the fifth Turkey's Malatya International Film Festival will be Russian film historian and theorist Hans-Joachim Schlegela, as well as two others from Turkey.

Attaran’s second feature film Red Carpet will be screened at the non-competition section of this festival. Hatef Alimardani's film For Pooneh will also compete at the festival’s Asian Cinema section.

Attaran’s Red Carpet is a tragicomedy about a stage-struck, 3rd degree Iranian actor and playwright, who is madly fond of Steven Spielberg and decides to go to Cannes Film Festival 2013 to meet Spielberg and ask him to help the actor become famous.

The fifth Malatya International Film Festival, running from Nov. 21-27, aims to encourage the filmmakers making films on humor and sub-genres like black humor.

With participation of international and national guests, Malatya International Film Festival carries out a unique cinema festivity in Eastern Turkey with its international competition, thematic sections, premiers, special screenings and cinema courses.
