Mr. Rasoulpour said that Iran and Hungary had 90 years of diplomatic relations and that both countries should improve current level of bilateral ties. “Now, the situation is unique for more extended cooperation with Hungary,” said the governor, “Isfahan welcomes cultural and economic relations with Hungary; Isfahan and Hungarian joint Chamber of Commerce would provide the grounds for wider trade relations,” he asserted.
“Isfahan has held its cultural and tourism weeks in several countries and we will welcome to hold such event in Hungary as well,” proposed the governor, to which Hungarian official responded positively, saying that Budapest would welcome hosting Isfahan Cultural Week. “In meetings with Iran’s Parliament Speaker and deputy-FM, both sides expressed willingness and hope to improve cooperation in all aspects,” he said. “Our duties in the EU would not be in conflict with Iran’s foreign policy and thus will not affect cooperation negatively,” János Latorcai added.
“Isfahan equals Hungary in terms of land area; it is one of the most beautiful cities of Iran, and given its excellent capacity in tourism, trade, student exchange, and short-term training programs, we welcome relations with the city,” he asserted.
Latorcai also pointed to Hungarian tourists’ interest in the city, and said that Budapest would cooperate in joint Chamber of Commerce to host Isfahan Cultural Week.
