CBI governor asked for banking, economic amendment

TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) — The governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) asked for a gradual amendment of various economic sectors including banking industry.

Attending the seventh gathering of the professors, board members and managing directors of the CBI held on Tuesday in Tehran, Ebrahim Sheybani added that no quick change is recommended to occur in the banking system, referring to the CBI’s decision of declining the deposit’s rate in the previous fiscal year.

The participants of the gathering mainly discussed on how to find a way to reduce banking interests.

However, the governor deputy in economic affairs, Akbar Komijani, said that the bank interests should be reduced considering the credit resource of the banks, macro economic conditions of the country, and the inflation rate.

Other key participants presented their view on the issue as well.
