Larijani re-elected chairman of Majlis principlist faction

TEHRAN, Oct. 6 (MNA) – Ali Larijani was re-elected the chairman of the principlist faction in the parliament on Tuesday by receiving 24 votes.

Larijani was running against pro-government MP Morteza Aqa-Tehrani who received only 7 votes.

The voting was done by the central council of the parliamentary faction.

Certain pro-government MPs had started attempts to defeat Larijani, saying he has too much to do to be the chairman of the parliament’s principlist faction.

Principlists hold the majority in the 290-seat parliament.
