Iran’s Mehralizadeh Congratulates AFC Award-Winning

TEHRAN, December 10 (Mehr News Agency) -- Head of Iran's Physical Education Organization, Mohsen Mehralizadeh, Wednesday expressed his congratulations on winning three top awards of the Asian Football Confederation.

Right winger Mahdi Mahdavikia, futsal side, and judge Massoud Moradi of Iran were elected the AFC Player, Team, and Referee of the Year for 2003 at Imperial Sheraton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian capital, on Dec. 10.

 

The PEO supremo, who is the vice-president said the titles are honors to the country’s officials, sports community, and people, adding that investment for the youth and those who love Iran is of great importance.

 

 

In a meeting Wednesday, Mehralizadeh also lauded the karatekas and officials for their superb performance in the Asian and world competitions.

   

During the meeting at his office, Mehralizadeh said all the under-21 team members and the Asian and world medalists will be awarded a two-week pilgrimage trip to the holy Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

   

The vice-president added the PEO will allocate enough budget to Karate Federation for presence in 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

   

He praised the karateists for their great successes in different events and said, "Your achievements have been also acclaimed by the cabinet."

   

Habibollah Nazerian, head of Karate Federation, offered his report on his office's calendar and plans.

 

Mehralizadeh also received Russian Minister of Culture Mikhail Shvydkoi Wednesday.

 

The Russian official exchanged views with Mehralizadeh on cultural issues and expansion of ties in the athletic fields.

 

For his part, the physical education chief called for all-out cooperation, adding that sport helps the nations promote friendship, morale, and philanthropy.
