Over 380,000 birds abandon Lake Hamun

TEHRAN, Apr. 17 (MNA) -- Draught and declining water levels have forced over 380,000 birds to abandon Lake Hamun in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.

The lake used to host over 400,000 migratory birds every year, ornithologist Jamshid Mansouri told the Mehr News Agency.

He added that thousands of the lake’s fish have also died.

A wide variety of animals had made the lake their home due to its unique ecosystem.
