The U.S. government’s annual Country Reports on Terrorism that was released on April 30 claimed that Iran is the world’s “most active” state sponsor of terrorism.
Borujerdi dismissed the report, saying, Washington’s accusations against Tehran is a repetition of the vain statements that the U.S. officials have “invented” and that is “completely unacceptable”.
“The U.S. was the founder of Al Qaeda,” he noted, adding the blame for the group’s activities in the region should be put on the United States.
The top parliamentarian said the U.S. supports the Zionist regime’s state terrorism as well. “Under this support this regime kidnaps, massacres innocent people, carries out terrorist operations, and backs terrorist groups.”
The report accused Iran of providing aid to militant groups in Palestine, Afghanistan, and Iraq, however the United States is the top sponsor of terror acts in those three regions, the MP noted.
Exemplifying the U.S. support for terrorism, he said poppy cultivation which is the driving force behind terrorism in Afghanistan has increased by 400 percent since the U.S. and British forces entered the country.
