Tehran’s Astronomy Center to hold space exhibition

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (MNA) -- The Melal Cultural Center is to hold a space exhibition at Tehran’s Astronomy Center from January 5 until 11.

Cosmonaut Georgi Grechko, an active member of the International Academy of Astronautics, accompanied by Russian-based Iranian astronomy scholar Cyrus Borzu, has traveled to Iran to attend the event.

A collection of photos taken in outer space together with objects used in space stations which Borzu has collected during his 40-year career will be showcased.

There will also be photos and posters on display signed by famous astronomers. In order to introduce visitors to the history of the science of astronomy, relevant journals will also be on view, some of them dating back to the first journey of man into outer space.

The exhibit will be showcasing Iranian collections which have been out into space and returned -- including postcards designed by Iranian master miniaturist Mahmud Farshchian, which were displayed in the international space station, together with some objects taken into outer space by the first Iranian female astronomer, Anusheh Ansari.

Tehran’s Astronomy Center is located at 11, Arafat Ave. off Ammar St., Dezashib St., Qods Sq. Tajrish region.
