Iran powers past Palestine at WAFF game

TEHRAN, June 20 (MNA) – The second string team of Iran beat the Palestinian side 2-0 at the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship in the Jordanian capital Amman Wednesday.

 

The two teams fought to a scoreless draw in the first half, but the Asian powerhouse struck twice after the break.

 

Milad Maydavudi scored the opener with a powerful drive on 56 minutes and Mehdi Rajabzadeh made it 2-0 five minutes from normal time.

 

The victory put Iran on top of Group B and in the second round of the event.

 

Iraq also qualified for the next round. Iran and Iraq tied nil-nil in their opener.
