One Out of Five Iranian Marriages Ends in Divorce

TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (Mehr News Agency) -- “The total number of divorce has tripled in the world over the past 40 years. In Iran, one out of five Iranian marriages ends in divorce -- the rate of divorce is 176 out of one thousand marriages in our country,” Majid Naqshi secretary of Tandis Institute for Young Thinkers (TIYT) told the Mehr News Agency here on Monday.

According to an international organization, the highest divorce rate of the world is in Hungary, followed by the U.S. and the Central African Republic. The divorce rate in the U.S. is about double that of the U.K.

Naqshi said that whereas the Iranian youth and families are not well aware of their rights, they face so many problems in their life. So, in order to increase the general knowledge of the people on their legal rights, marriage, and divorce, and in order to give them legal counseling services on checks and documentations, the first training course is being held at the Daneshjou Cultural Center by the TIYT.

It should be noted that the TIYT is a non-governmental organization, which is not affiliated to any group, but it is supported somehow by the National Youth Organization.
