5 trains delayed in Russia’s Samar in wake of explosion

TEHRAN, Mar. 04 (MNA) – Five long-distance trains have been delayed near Chapayevsk in the Russian Volga region of Samara as an explosive device was detonated, the local railway operator said.

"On March 4, 2024, passenger train service was halted as unauthorized persons interfered in the operation of the Zvezda-Chapayevsk railway in the Samara Region," the Kuibyshevskaya railway said, Russian TASS news agency reported.

Suburban train service has also been partially suspended. The incident caused no casualties though.

Emergency services told TASS earlier that a blast was heard on a railway bridge across the river of Chapayevka at about 5:00 a.m. local time (1:00 a.m. GMT - TASS). According to preliminary information, the fence and bridge supports were damaged near the river bank.
