2 trekkers killed in India's Himachal Pradesh

TEHRAN, Feb. 08 (MNA) – Two trekkers, including a woman, were killed during their expedition in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, officials said Thursday.

The bodies were found in Bir Billing in the Kangra district, about 195 km north of Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.

Bir Billing, located at an altitude of 5,000 feet, is a favored destination for treks and paragliding.

According to officials, a German Shepherd dog accompanying the trekkers helped locate the bodies as it remained beside them and kept barking until a rescue team reached the spot on Tuesday.

Officials suspect the trekkers, Abhinandan Gupta (30) from Punjab's Pathankot and Pranita Wala (26) from Maharashtra's Pune,were killed after falling from a steep slope on Sunday.
