Afghanistan calls for coordinated coop. against terrorism

TEHRAN, Dec. 08 (MNA) – Afghanistan’s Parliament Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi has called for sincere and coordinated cooperation in combating terrorism in the region.

Addressing the 2nd Speakers’ Conference hosted by Tehran on Saturday, Afghanistan’s Parliament Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi voiced his country’s full commitment to combating terrorism, adding “Afghanistan has been ravaged by internal and external terrorism and many of its citizens have fallen victim to this scourge.”

He maintained that the participating countries at the Conference enjoy a good level of political, economic and cultural ties, as well as mutual interests, saying the countries need to come up with effective solutions to eradicate terrorism.

He said effective strategies need to be endorsed by parliaments and fully implemented to fight this scourge.

He further called for unity and closer cooperation between regional countries, stressing that Afghan government and parliament is ready to cooperate with every country in combating terrorism.

The 2nd Speakers’ Conference: The Challenges of Terrorism and Inter-Regional Connectivity kicked off in Tehran on Friday, with parliament speakers from Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and China in attendance. The event will wrap up today.
