Tabriz can serve as tourism hub for neighboring countries

TEHRAN, Apr. 27 (MNA) – Secretary General of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khalil Ibrahim Ậḵcẖạ expressed his pleasure in choosing Tabriz as the Capital of Tourism in the Islamic World in 2018 and said, “this historic and beautiful city can be turned into a tourism hub for neighboring countries including Turkey and Caucasus.”

Religious, cultural and historical commonalities are of the important elements in the development and prosperity of the tourism industry among different countries, he said, adding, “considering the strong religious and historical ties of Iran with the Caucasus, Turkey and Azerbaijan Republic, development of tourism between Tabriz and these regions can be done using various advertisements and introducing this metropolis faster.”

He seized this opportunity to congratulate this prestigious event to the noble people of Tabriz and responsible officials and said, “it is hoped that introduction of Tabriz as Capital of Tourism in the Islamic World can be an opportunity for the prosperity and development of tourism industry both in this region and Iran.”

Creating solidarity, unity and amity among nationals of ECO member states is the main goal behind development of tourism industry, he said, adding, “in this regard, Tabriz has been defined as tourism hub and effective steps will be taken in this city for promoting tourism industry as well.”

ECO secretary general evaluated the presence of Iranian President Rouhani in the official opening ceremony of Tabriz 2018 as ‘significant and important’ and added, “inaugural ceremony of Tabriz 2018 had widespread repercussions on the media outlets of Islamic countries and Turkey.”

It should be noted that the official inaugural ceremony of Tabriz 2018 as the Tourism Capital of Islamic World was held in Tabriz on Wednesday in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, a number of ministers, government officials besides 60 political and tourism representatives of various countries in the world.
