Zemestanyurt mine contractor summoned to court

TEHRAN, May 06 (MNA) – Chief Justice of Golestan province announced the contractor of Zemestanyurt mine in Azadshahr was summoned to the court.

The head of Golestan province court Hadi Hashemian ensured the families of the victims of the tragic incident and the Iranian nation that the court will prosecute the perpetrators and those involved in the explosion of the mine on Wednesday.

Sadegh Ali Moghadam, the provincial director of disaster management, explained the latest measures taken to rescue the trapped miners and said the aid groups completed debris removal and securing the first point of debris falling Friday evening.

A large explosion struck a coal mine in northern Iran on Wednesday, killing at least 22 miners and trapping several others as rescue teams worked frantically through the day and into the night to reach them, he said, adding according to the numbers provided by the miners, there are other 13 miners inside the tunnel.
