Seven-year-old Katayun Mehrdadi won the bronze medal as well as an honorary diploma in the competition, and 13-year-old Keyvan Ebadi was awarded an honorary diploma.
The jury, which included professors and museum curators, judged several thousand works from 57 countries submitted to the competition, which had nature and free theme sections.
Eighty-five works from Iran were submitted to the competition this year.
Reproductions of selected works were also published in a book, which includes comments by jury members.
The main goal of the festival is to promote friendship and cooperation among children across the globe.
The director of the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo observed that even children from the same country did not share the same views on nature.
Most of the paintings reflect unrealistic and imaginary views of nature, since the children are gradually being separated from it, he added.
