Mehr News correspondent in Damascus sat in a short interview with Minister of Information of Syria Ramiz Tarjuman on Saturday to ask him about the media role in Syrian crisis. Tarjuman believed that there had been a cultural and propaganda war along with a military one in past few years; however, he believed media affiliated to and sympathizing with Syrian government had not been alone in fighting the propaganda war and Resistance media had contributed to the battle including Iranian media which had been a great support for Syrian cause.
“Resistance media has largely changed the equation in favor of Syrian government and its friends through timely engaging in a war of the pens; to such heroic action western media failed to hit and thus abandoned the battle to their Middle Eastern rivals who took side with Syria,” Tarjuman told Mohammad Ghaderi of Mehr News International Service.
He also highlighted excellent media relations between Iran and Syria, where Tehran had contributed to spreading Syrian message to the world; “we are indebted to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s unwavering support for Syrian government; Islamic Revolution of 1979 enjoys values not easily forgotten. One such value is the support of the downtrodden and the unprivileged of the world including Palestinians,” he added.
“A full-fledge war had been launched against Syrian territorial integrity where our nation suffered the many drawbacks of civil war; however, the aggressive side failed in realizing its objectives when they came to a debacle in Syria; the Providence bestowed on us the promised victory,” Tarjuman went on figurative speech to describe the status quo in Syria.
“Syria should maintain the stability it secured in fight against its enemies and terrorism; we should also complete the success to fully crush the enemies and last remnants of extremism in Syria; we will ultimately restore the stability to our country once it enjoyed in peace,” he concluded the interview.
