Iran rejects US claims of sending arms to Yemen

TEHRAN, Oct. 05 (MNA) – Iran has rejected claims by a US official that Tehran was sending weapons to Yemen, saying the Americans with their terrible record of arming aggressors in Yemen should stop laying the blame on others.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi made the remark in response to the claims by a US Defense Department official that were reflected in some American media outlets and alleged that the missile used by Yemen’s Ansar Allah forces to destroy a UAE military vessel was Iranian-made.

“The Americans’ claims come against the backdrop of a year and a half siege of Yemen where even delivering humanitarian aid to the people is faced with numerous problems,” Ghasemi said. “Their claims prove nothing but their own admittance to the failure and desperation they and their allies feel toward the defenseless Yemeni people.”

“No doubt, American fighter jets and weapons are used in the killing of thousand innocent Yemenis and the destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure and the targeting of the country’s hospitals and schools,” he said.

Ghasemi went on to add, “even after war crimes were committed in Yemen, selling of arms to Saudi Arabia has still continued.”
