Iranians grab 2 medals at Medved Grand Prix day 1

MINSK, Feb. 19 (MNA) – Two Iranian wrestlers bagged medals on the first day of the 46th International Freestyle Wrestling Grand Prix Championship on Thursday.

Among more than 250 athletes from 26 countries, Iranian wrestlers Reza Atari and Hossein Yazdani were the two Iranians who landed first and second in their weight divisions to grab a gold and a silver medal on the first day of the 46th International Freestyle Wrestling Grand Prix Championship for the Prizes of Three-Time Olympic Champion Alexander Medved.

Freestyle wrestler Reza Atari defeated all the opponents who fought against him in 57 kilograms weight class and snatched the gold medal of the division.

The other Iranian wrestler Hassan Yazdani lost at the final fight of 74 kilograms weight class and grabbed the silver medal of the tournament.

Abbas Tahan and Alireza Ghasemi were the unsuccessful Iranian wrestlers of the first day.

Hassan Rahimi and Iaman Ghassemi in 61 kilograms weight class, Alireza Karimi in 86 kilograms, and Komeil Ghasemi in 125 kilograms are slated to fight on Friday.
