France vows academic coop. with Iran

TEHRAN, Feb. 05 (MNA) – An official in Iran's vice-presidential office for science and technology told Mehr News Agency about the prospect of Tehran-Paris technology cooperation.

"Following President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to France the two countries have agreed to expand cooperation in scientific and technologic areas," said Seyed Ahmad Reza A’laee Tabatabaie the General Director of Tech-exchange office of Iran's Vice-Presidential Office for Science and Technology on Thursday.

Saying that the French government had already requested technologic cooperation with Iranians in some areas, the official held that Science and Technology Parks is the first area of bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Paris.

Giant knowledge-based companies of France are slated to attend Iranian Science and Technology Parks as their Iranian counterparts have agreed to have a sub-group in French parks.

He held that the issue is mutual and the parks of both countries are required to interact directly so more details are to be reached in the future.

"There are three big S&T Parks in Iran like Pardis and Isfahan’s Town of Science and Research which are growing their interactions and the French can have subgroups in there," highlighted A’laee Tabatabaie.

The second area of technology agreements made in Paris is about private sector knowledge-based companies of two countries to be linked together for interaction.

He also added that the committee for developing science and technology of stem cells is to open a research and development office in France.

The third area of scientific interaction between the two countries is academic interaction between universities of the two countries to run professor and student exchange programs in addition to research grant programs, the Iranian official announced.

He also declared that all the agreements are under examination and the whole process would take a long time to be put into practice.
