Pres. Rouhani kicks off Euro trip to drum up business

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (MNA) – Heading a high-ranking delegation, President Hassan Rouhani left Tehran for Rome on Monday morning, upon an invitation by Italian, French counterparts.

Iran, back into the world of global commerce after the lifting of financial sanctions, now looks for enhancing ties with the international community.

In his new post-sanction trip to Rome, as a potential investment bonanza for the country, Rouhani leads a strong delegation that includes Iranian entrepreneurs as well as the oil and gas minister and other government officials for four days in Paris and Rome.

When in Rome, President Rouhani will meet with Italian high-ranking officials, including President Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and a number of investors and big business heads.

After speaking to business leaders, Rouhani will head to the Vatican for talks with Pope Francis and the prime minister.

Upon completion of his plans in Italy, Rouhani will leave Rome for Paris on January 27 to hold joint talks with French counterpart Francois Hollande and other high-ranking officials.

The visit to France, the first by an Iranian president since 1999, will provide opportunities to smooth relations with a country that has historically been friendly with Iran.

Meeting with Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, senior economic managers, investors and owners of large industries, holding bilateral and multilateral meetings as well as press conferences and interviews with senior European, Italian and French media editors, meeting with experts and scholars and having joint meetings with industrialists and investors are among the plans included in Rouhani’s 4-day schedule in Europe.

Rouhani will wrap up his Euro trip on January 28.
