Nov. 4 basis of Iran’s independence, fighting arrogance

TEHRAN, Nov. 04 (MNA) – Iranian President Rouhani on the 36th anniversary of US embassy takeover, said Nov. 4 marks the beginning of a series of significant events influential in the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Addressing a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, President Hassan Rouhani noted the exile of the late Imam Khomeini on 4 November 1964 as the first stage and the killing of a great number of Iranian youth by Shah's authoritarian regime on 4 Nov. 1978 as the second stage of the movement, adding “the high school and university students have played a decisive role in the country’s political developments and safeguarding the Islamic Revolution's achievements, specially the Sacred Defense.”

Stressing that the US embassy takeover formed the pillars of the country's independence and fighting against the arrogant power, the president described the event which was ordered by late Imam Khomeini as the second revolution during which the Iranian nation once again revolted against Arrogance and authoritarianism.

“The message of the Iranian nation today is that they will protect the Revolution’s achievements with perseverance and consistency, national awareness and the guidance of the Leader,” said Rouhani.

President Rouhani also warned against the infiltration of outside influence, calling on the nation to stand against any such influences.

Iranians have been commemorating the occasion of the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran by holding rallies and protesting against the 'Global Arrogance' by chanting 'Down with US' slogans. Leader Ayat. Khamenei addressing thousands of students ahead of the November 4 anniversary on Tuesday said that "Iranian nation’s ‘Down with US’ slogan is rational and has strong background and it is clear it does not mean death to the American ‘nation;’ this slogan means death to American policies, death to Arrogance; this has a rational background and our Constitution and logic pronounce the same and it is understandable for any nation."
