Dear Minister watch the films!

TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (MNA) – A number of Ammar Film Festival’s filmmakers presented a letter and some films to German FM and urged him to visit the western parts of Iran which were the victims of Berlin's support for Iraq's dictator Saddam Hussein.

A group of Iranian cultural figures presented a letter along with a number of films to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier who arrived in Tehran on October 17 to attend the core group meeting of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).

The films, which were made on the chemical attacks by Saddam’s forces against Iranians and a letter, were handed over to the German Embassy on Sunday by a number of Iranian Ammar Film Festival’s filmmakers and officials.

Addressing the minister a part of the letter says “Some three decades ago, the countries claiming to advocate human rights including your own country, armed the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein with chemical weapons."

"Opposing all international conventions and laws, the weapons were frequently used against the innocent people of Iran killing and wounding tens of thousands of them," the letter reads.

The letter also invited the minister to visit some of the towns including Sardasht, Baneh and Marivan which were the victims of chemical weapons used by Iraq and supported by Germany.

They also urged him to watch the films that the Iranian youth had made, on the event, if he does not have time to visit the regions.

The FM, however, departed for Riyadh without responding to the letter.
