Munich Intl. Youth Library selects four Iranian books for 2005 list

TEHRAN, Apr. 26 (MNA) -- The Munich International Youth Library has selected four Iranian books for this year’s White Ravens, which is a list of books to be included in the library that is compiled annually.

“Rustam and Sohrab” rewritten by Marjan Fuladvand and illustrated by Mansur Vafaii and “The Family of Mr. Charkheshi” written by Tahereh Ibad and illustrated by Ali Namvar, both published by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), are two of the books.

The other two books are “I Am Not My Father’s Servant” written by Ahmad Akbarpur and published by Ofoq Publications and “Love Songs” written by Mostafa Rahmandust and published by Shabaviz Publications.

The White Ravens 2005 is a selection of international youth and children’s literature with over 250 titles in almost 30 languages from 50 countries. These books will later be put on display at the Bologna International Book Fair in Italy.

The International Youth Library is the largest library of its kind in the world. Children’s and young people’s literature from around the world is collected in Blutenburg Castle in Munich.

More than half a million books in more than 130 languages are archived in the castle’s storage cellars and around 9,000 volumes are added each year. Alongside the books for children and young people -- including a collection of approximately 60,000 historical children’s books -- there are also more than 30,000 works of international research literature.
