Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi held meeting with Assistant Director-General of UNESCO Flavia Schlegel in Tehran on Monday.
“Iran is the first country I am visiting since taking office,” Flavia Schlegel said, adding that diversity of Iran's scientific activities which covers from Applied Sciences to Basic Sciences is so noticeable.
Pointing to the institutionalization of innovation in Iranian cultural domain, Schlegel said that cooperation between Iran and UNESCO has always been useful and the organization is willing to consider challenges and to adopt practical techniques to strengthen cooperation with Iran.
Mohammad Farhadi briefed the UNESCO senior official on situation of Iranian universities and scientific, technology and innovative progresses in scientific and research centers.
Regarding Iran’s achievements in science and technology, Farhadi said that Iran has enhanced level of health standards which helps raise life expectancy.
