This is President Ghani’s first visit to Tehran that comes at the official invitation of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani.
Afghan president and accompanying delegation will discuss promotion of bilateral ties and regional as well as international developments on a two-day visit.
Mr. Ghani is accompanied by Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan Mohammad Mohaghegh, Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Minister of Finance Eklil Ahmad Hakimi and a number of other officials.
The visit had been scheduled to take place last month but was postponed due to the devastating avalanches triggered by two days of heavy snow in Afghanistan’s northeastern areas that claimed nearly 200 lives.
