Iran’s FM spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham has strongly condemned Saudi Arabia’s military operations including air strikes in Yemen on Thursday which have led to a number of innocent citizens dead and injured; “these operations are a dangerous step and completely contrary to international obligations in respecting the national sovereignty of other countries,” she said.
“Falling back on military operations against Yemen which is currently undergoing an internal crisis and combating terrorism will only complicate the matters and spread the scope of the current crisis and waste the opportunities for any peaceful resolution to Yemen’s domestic conflicts,” she asserted.
Afkham stressed the need for the realization of the national agreements between various Yemeni parties and groups as soon as possible, and demanded the immediate cease of air strikes and all military operations against this country and its people.
Warplanes of the Royal Saudi Air Force reportedly bombed the positions of the Ansarullah fighters and launched attacks against the Sana'a airport and the Dulaimi airbase early on Thursday.
The airstrikes also targeted the residential Nasr complex in northern Sana’a killing dozens civilians including children, according to reports.
Saudi Arabia is supplying 100 warplanes and 150,000 soldiers for the operation, Saudi-owned al-Arabiya television reported on Thursday.
