Ayatollah Khamenei received Iranian state and military officials and foreign participants of the 28th International Islamic Unity Conference this morning on the auspicious birth anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
Addressing the gathering, the Leader deemed unity is the great lesson of Prophet and the urgent need for Muslims. “Celebrating Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) should not be limited to his words, but to fulfill his message of unity as the top priority of Muslim countries and nations.”
He further expressed deep regret over the success of divisive plots by Islam enemies, urging Muslim nations to focus on their general commonalities and not the minor differences, by which the promotion and development of the Islamic Ummah is guaranteed indicating the honor, dignity and greatness of the Prophet.
Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the Iraqi government, nation and tribes for their devotional services offered to the Arbaeen mourners this year, calling it an amazing event with millions of pilgrims, including Shia and Sunni Muslims and even non-Muslims, which created a great and strange event reflecting the largest gathering of Muslims in the world marking 40 days after anniversary of Imam Hussain martyrdom on Day of Ashura, leading to honor and glory of the world of Islam.
Elaborating on the factors needed to create Islamic unity, the Leader said, “neither the Shia Muslims allied with the British MI6 are Shias, nor the Sunni mercenaries of the American CIA are Sunnis, as they are both anti-Islamic.”
Pointing to the continuous efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in promoting unity among Islamic countries, Ayatollah Khamenei said, Iran has donated contributions to Muslims, mostly Sunni brothers during 35 years, indicating its practical commitment to the slogan of unity with the continued support for the Palestinian and regional nations.
The Leader pointed to some regional countries which have based their foreign policies on observing enmity against Iran, calling it a big mistake and contradictory to the rule of common sense and rationality. “Unlike their hostility toward our country, Iranian foreign policy is based on establishing friendly ties with Muslim and neighboring countries,” Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated at the end.
