The accident of this morning was a second traffic accident in Yazd. The bus reportedly deviated from its course and collided with a lorry carrying fuel. 25 people were reportedly injured.
Yazd Police command provided the details of the accident. “The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver’s drowsiness caused a hit with an electricity post which got the bus off its course,” told Brig. Gen. Manuchehr Amanollahi, the commander of police. “The lorry was parked beside the road and the deviated bus hit part of it,” added he, and that “the impact would have been even worse; fortunately, rescue team and firefighters made the scene secure and injured people was transferred on time to hospital.”
Some of the injured were treated as outpatients; but most of them suffered trauma and lacerations. The disaster happened in Qom before could have been repeated in this case as well, where the bus caught fire and passengers suffered severe deadly burns.
