FM spokeswoman demands Pakistan fight terrorism in borders

TEHRAN, Feb. 18 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokeswoman has demanded that Pakistan should arrest and extradite terrorist groups kidnapping Iranian border guards.

Marzieh Afkham, who was speaking in her weekly press conference on Tuesday, congratulated the reporters on the anniversary of the Revolution and expressed gratitude for massive turnout in rallies held every year by the Iranians to renew allegiance to the Islamic system as providing leverage for the politicians in diplomatic efforts.

“Diplomatic and political attempts focused on releasing 5 kidnapped Iranian border guards are underway,” said Afkham, and that “the Islamic Republic has summoned Pakistani ambassador twice to voice the objections on the kidnapping.”

“We seriously demand strong action by Pakistan to secure borders and fight terrorism. We demand that Pakistan identify, arrest, and extradite the terrorist group responsible of kidnapping to the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Afkham emphasized, and added that Iran was ready to cooperate with Pakistan in securing borders.
