Seyyed Jalil Mir-Zahed, managing-director of the Tehran Nomads’ Union, said the exhibition is highlighting handicrafts like Jajim (a kind of tapestry-woven rug), as well as kilim (a flat-woven carpet or rug)and nomad produce; milk, cream, honey, yogurt, and cheese.
The exhibition is comprised of two sections: “Black-Tents of 13 Provinces” and “Their Cultural and Historic Works”, is being held concurrently with the exhibition “Cultural and Historic Works of the Provinces”.
The exhibition intends to familiarize visitors with different cultures, customs, dialects and accents as well as local music of the country’s provinces.
A black-tent is a shelter made of long goat’s hair and wooden poles, used specifically by nomads.
Mir-Zadeh said that the exhibition, sponsored by the Nomads’ Organization and the Cultural Department of Tehran University, would continue until May 11.
