He is the first Iranian joining a number of world celebrities including soccer players Kaka and Ronaldino, and American actress Drew Barrymore to help the WFP’s campaign against hunger.
In 2006, Iranian actress Mahtab Keramati was selected as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
“I feel extremely honored to be selected as WFP’s first ambassador in Iran and am eager to cooperate with WFP in its campaign against hunger in the world,” said the 31-year-old Radan.
“I want to have a share of the international efforts at making a hunger-free world,” he added.
In November 2008, a number of Iranian thespians including Reza Kianian, Hamid Farrokhnejad, Hamid Jebelli, Hamed Behdad, Bahram Radan and Bahareh Rahnama, signed up on the list to be volunteers assisting the anti-hunger campaign of the WFP.
According to the WFP, hunger and malnutrition are the number one health risks worldwide. Based on a WFP study, one sixth of the world’s people do not receive enough food for proper health.
