Persepolis fires Kranjcar

TEHRAN, Sept. 26 (MNA) -- Persepolis dismissed Croat coach Zlatko Kranjcar following poor results in the Iran’s Professional League (IPL) on Friday.

Persepolis football team suffered its first defeat as they went down 2-1 against Paykan in the 8th week of the IPL.

Persepolis has only 11 points from eight games and is 8th in the standings.

Kranjcar was named the coach of the Tehran-based team in summer. He had also coached Croatia in the 2006 World Cup but was fired after his team was eliminated in the group stages of the event.

Kranjcar’s assistant Hossein Abdi has been appointed as Persepolis interim coach.
