Iran, Malaysia FMs discuss expanding bilateral relations

TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Malaysian counterpart conferred on expanding the bilateral relations between the two countries on Monday.

Amir-Abdollahian held a phone conversation with his Malaysian counterpart Mohamad Hasan, in which the two top diplomats discussed a range of bilateral, regional, and international issues.

During the phone call, the top Iranian diplomat announced Iran’s readiness to boost bilateral relations with Malaysia in the fields of technology, science, culture, industry, and commerce.

The two sides also conferred on various issues regarding the Islamic world, especially the issue of Palestine.

They exchanged views on the proposal of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and expressed hope that the meeting would be an effective step toward stopping the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza.

The Malaysian foreign minister, for his part, welcomed the holding of the planned OIC meeting, hailing Iran's diplomatic efforts to bring peace to the Gaza Strip.

The two diplomats also discussed strengthening bilateral trade agreements and the future visit of high-ranking officials of the two countries to Tehran and Kuala Lumpur.
