Iranian president highlights maritime economy boost

TEHRAN, Dec. 23 (MNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi highlighted the imperative to activate the maritime economy, citing potential employment prospects and the region's untapped capabilities.

Addressing officials during a meeting in Golestan province, president Raeisi emphasized the collective responsibility in leveraging all resources for enhanced productivity and efficiency. President Raeisi called on all the concerned officials of the province to make their utmost efforts to increase productivity.

Activation of the private sector in the cooperatives sector is one of the important issues that should be taken into serious consideration, he said.

Earlier, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash stressed the imperative need for strengthening Golestan's port infrastructures, noting an acceleration in investments in the maritime sector after directives from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, with a strategic emphasis on sea-oriented development.

Pointing to the strategic position of Golestan province along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the minister underscored the province's unique potential, due to its proximity to the Republic of Turkmenistan.

Iran engaged in constructive negotiations with neighboring Turkmenistan to set up the common border marketplaces and facilitate smooth transit access for Golestan province to Central Asian states

President Ebrahim Raeisi and a group of his ministers arrived in Golestan province on Thursday to inaugurate some mega projects in the Northern Province.

Upon his arrival at Gorgan Martyrs International Airport, the President was welcomed by the Leader representative in Golestan province, the governor, and a group of other provincial officials.

Visiting some industrial, infrastructure, and construction plans and projects, meeting and talking with different classes of people and communities, and participating in the administrative council were among the main plans of the president on the trip.
