“We should either bypass the sanctions or make enemies repent,” said Rouhani on Wednesday in a cabinet meeting in Tehran.
“The government is determined to foil the enemies’ plots both through boosting domestic production and through different paths such as holding negotiations,” he said, adding, “and in this regard, the government will act according to the framework of the Establishment’s redlines and we will not cross them.”
Rouhani had also pointed to the issue of negotiation on Sunday while addressing students of Farhangian University in Tehran, saying “The enemy is seeking to put pressure on our people; our nation is showing resistance but this doesn’t mean that we should not take a path which can foil enemies’ plots. Negotiation is necessary and a revolutionary act.”
US, under the Trump administration, has imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran’s economy after withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May 2018. Washington hopes for a better deal with Tehran but Iran has always highlighted that there will be no negotiations until unfair sanctions are removed and Washington fulfills its commitments under the UN-endorsed JCPOA.
On National Information Network
Rouhani also referred to the topic of the National Information Network on Wednesday, saying, “improving the National Information Network does not mean cutting off the Internet. We want people to have access to a powerful national information network alongside foreign internet.”
US plots for region
The President highlighted that the United States’ conspiracies against Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and other regional countries will be defeated, saying, "without a doubt, the people of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran can stand up to their conspiracies and the Iranian nation will be pioneers of this move, as they have been so far,” according to his office’s website.
