Kazem Gharibabadi, the new Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN Office at Vienna (UNOV) and other international organizations based in Vienna held a meeting with Yury Fedotov, the Director-General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV), on Monday afternoon
While pointing out the priorities, activities and actions of Iran in various fields, including the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, Mr. Gharibabadi also touched upon developing and strengthening relations and interactions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Nations Office in Vienna.
He also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as an independent country with vast and diverse capacities, has always been at the forefront of the fight against drug trafficking, and, while the international community has contributed very little to this cause, has suffered many material and spiritual costs in this area. The results have been positive and fruitful for the entire region and the international community.
Mr. Gharibabadi also emphasized the necessity of strengthening multilateralism in the international arena and referred to the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard, denouncing unilateralism and calling for the promotion of existing interactions and the further implementation of the joint cooperation program between the parties.
Fedotov also welcomed the appointment of Mr. Gharibabadi as the new permanent representative of Iran in Vienna and joined him in praising Iran’s efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
He also said that Iran is an important and influential country and its activities have played an important role in advancing global action against drugs and organized crime.
He also wished success for the new permanent representative of Iran in his new responsibility.
