 Preparation for upcoming Geneva talks discussed in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Nov. 26 (MNA) – UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria, Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, said that his meeting with Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, in a presence of Head of the Syrian Arab Republic delegation to the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, was useful .

Before leaving Damascus on Saturday, Ramzy expressed hope that the meetings held by UN Special Envoy, Sataffan de Mistura, over the past period , the most recent of which was in Moscow on Friday, will help reviving the Syrian talks during upcoming Geneva talks.

He stressed to reporters that de Mistura is committed to deal with the issue of four baskets with focusing on the second and the third baskets related to elections and constitution , in addition to the paper of general principles on the future of Syria.

In response to a question about whether De Mistura would participate in the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi, Ramzy said that the dialogue with the Russian side is constant and we held very good and useful discussions in Moscow on Friday.

He said that the political process in Syria is difficult and complicated because the situation in it is complicated, expressing hope that the upcoming round will contribute, with effective participation of the Syrian government and the presence of one delegation of the opposition, in pushing the political process forward.
