Jaberi Ansari in Damascus for Syria settlement talks

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – Iran’s senior negotiator for Astana process Hossein Jaberi Ansari has arrived in the Syrian capital Damascus Tue. night as part of Astana talks to resolve the Syria crisis.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African affairs, will meet with a numnber of Syrian officials to discuss the latest developments in Syria and Astana peace talks.

On Sunday, Jabeir Ansari held a meeting with Staffan de Mistura, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, who had travelled to Tehran. They discussed the ways to resolve the crisis of Syria through political negotiations. They also talked about the sixth round of Astana peace talks which will take place mid-September.

Up until now, Astana has hosted five round of peace talks starting from January. These talks mainly focus on re-establishing Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. The participants in these negotiations include representatives from Russia, Turkey, and Iran as the guarantor states, as well as Syria’s government and the country’s opposition party.
