Brig. Gen. Farzad Esmaili told reporters on Sunday that the drill would start on Monday and would continue 5 days in southern province Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman coasts; “Army and IRGC air defense units along with Aerospace Forces and Basij forces will participate; the scope of the drill will cover 496,000 square kilometers from Mahshahr to Chabahar in the southeastern extremity; Army Air Force, Artillery, and Scout units will be joined by Air Squad of the Law Enforcement Forces (police) during the drill,” he told the press.
“The drill will also cover a wide area including Ahvaz, Dezful to Shiraz, Kerman, and over the Persian Gulf waters, will encompass Chabahar and the islands in more than 1,000 air defense points,” said the commander. “In terms of participating staff, 17,000 cadre and conscription forces will directly or indirectly engage; a unique feature of the drill is participation of cadets aged under 15; they will implement key decision-making processes and practical parts of the drill to have a first-hand experience of the process.”
“Another feature of the drill is that it will incorporate all surveillance, electronic eavesdropping, low-, medium-, and high-altitude missile, and all frequency ranges; in fact, the drill will mainly focus on electronic warfare in wider scope,” Esmaili added.
