Mr. Boroujredi’s call for severing relations with Britain took the spotlight earlier on Saturday when he warned British officials that Iran may ‘reverse the trend of détente in bilateral relations’ in response to remarks by British Premier Theresa May in her address to the GCC Wednesday last week; he believed the remarks were provocative and undermined the realities of the situation in the Middle East.
On Tuesday open session of the Parliament, Mr. Boroujerdi denounced remarks by British prime minister and foreign secretary as ‘nonsense’ and indicative of their hostility toward Iran as it had been through history; “diplomatic ties are in contrast with hostile conduct and would belie their mask of friendship,” he told the Parliament open session.
